Who we are

Wellcome Church is a registered charity (Charity No. 1176350) based in Grays, Essex. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means Wellcome Church.

We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, please get in touch.

What information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. This happens in three places:

Prayer requests

When you submit a prayer request, we collect your name, email address (optional), and the content of your request.

Contact form

When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and your message.

Zoom requests

When you ask for Zoom details, we collect your name and email address so we can send them to you.

We do not use tracking software or advertising tools, and we do not collect any information about how you use this website.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us only for the reason you gave it. Specifically:

  • Prayer requests are shared with our prayer team and treated in complete confidence.
  • Contact messages are used to respond to your enquiry.
  • Zoom details are sent to you by email and your details are not used for any other purpose.

We will never sell your information, share it with third parties for marketing, or contact you with anything you didn't ask for.

Our legal basis for using your information

Under UK GDPR, we need a legal reason to use your personal data. We rely on legitimate interests — meaning we use your information only to respond to the thing you asked us about, which is what any reasonable person would expect.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as needed to deal with your request. Contact and prayer request emails are typically deleted within 12 months. If you'd like us to delete your information sooner, just ask.

Google Fonts

This website uses Google Fonts to display text. When your browser loads a page, it contacts Google's servers to fetch the font files. Google may log your IP address as part of this process. Google Fonts does not set cookies or use your data for advertising. You can read more in Google's privacy FAQ for Fonts.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any information that is wrong
  • Delete your information (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Object to how we use your information
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've handled your data incorrectly

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

The ICO

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK's data protection regulator. If you have a concern about how we've handled your information that you don't feel we've resolved, you can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page. The date at the top of the page will always show when it was last changed.
